Double and Halve Strategy

My Reflection: I was learning to use the doubling and halving strategy. I found it easy to halve and double the numbers. I found it hard to double the bigger numbers. I need to keep on practising my maths. I still need to work on this strategy. Next time I will know what to do.

Reading Strategies

My Reflection:
I was learning to use reading strategies to help me understand the book.
I found answering the questions easy because I got to use the book to help me.
I found it hard to do the vocabulary bit and to find the meaning of the tricky words.
I want to work on sounding out the tricky words.

My Speech

My Reflection: I was learning to write a speech. I found it hard to think about some ideas to write about. It was tricky to write some of the words. Next time I think I will find it easier to write a speech.

Flower Canvas

My Reflection:
I was learning to create a piece of art using multi-media.
I found painting the canvas and choosing the colours easy.
I found trying to draw my flower big on my canvas hard.
I want to work on making my picture big.

My Fractured Fairytale

My Reflection:
I was learning to write a fractured fairytale.
I found it easy to think about my character.
I found it hard to try and sound out some of the words.
I want to work on making it a bit longer next time.

Olympic Tagul

My Reflection:
l was learning to extend  my  Olympic  vocabulary by thinking of an Olympic related word for each letter of the alphabet.
I found the letter N easy because Niue is where I come from.
I found the letters T and S hard to think of letters for.
I think I need to work on knowing more words about the Olympics.

Car Shopping

My Reflection:
I was learning to retell the story.
I found easy to fill in the questions about the car. I found hard what to write at the end to answer the question. I need to work on adding in detail.
I still want to work on retelling a story.

Rounding to the Nearest 10

My Reflection:
I was learning to round numbers to the nearest 10.
I found rounding the 2 digit numbers easy.
I found rounding the 3 digit numbers harder and this is something that I want to work on.
I need to keep practicing these.

Reading Around the World Challenge

My Reflection:
I was learning to research about a country that was in the Olympics.
I found it easy to chose my country. I found it easy to find out the population.
I found it hard to search for the facts.
I want to work on getting better at researching.

My Holiday Moment in Time

My Reflection: I was learning to write about one part of my holiday using my senses. I think I did well with putting my full stops in the correct place. I found this easy because I had good ideas to write in my story. I need to work on my capital letters.

Fractured Fairy Tale

My Reflection:
I was learning to compare a traditional fairy tale with a fractured fairy tale.
I found it tricky to remember what happened in the story.
I found talking about the characters easy.
My next step is to try and think really hard about the fairy tales.

Matariki Acrostic Poem

My Reflection:
I was learning to write an acrostic poem about Matariki.
I found it easy to think of my ideas. It was nice to have help from Mrs Green.
I found it hard to make sure that my writing makes sense.
I want to work on making sure that I spell my words right.

Pepeha Art

My Reflection:
I was learning to create a visual representation of my pepeha.
I found drawing the shapes and colouring in the mountain easy.
I found drawing the swing hard. It was tricky to press hard with the pastel.
I want to work on making sure my colouring is neat.

Skip Counting

My Reflection:
I found trying to put the numbers in order hard and I needed a little bit of help.
I want to work on making sure I am putting my numbers in the right order.
I think I am good at skip counting.

The Hungry Kitten

My Reflection:
I found it a little hard to find the words in the book. I found reading the book a bit hard too. I want to work on writing my answers in full sentences.

Did You Ever Poem

My Reflection:
I was learning to write a Did You Ever Poem. It was easy to think about what I wanted to write about. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to write the poem. I want to work on putting my capital letters in the right place.

Bio Poem

My Reflection:
I was learning to write a Bio poem. I found it hard to write my ideas. I found it easy to think of things. I want to work on making my writing neat.

Te Tuhi Visit

My Reflection:
In Term 1 I went to Te Tuhi We did the Wish You Were Here workshop. This is my picture. I enjoyed painting.

Finding the Missing Number

My Reflection: I was learning to find the missing number in addition problems. I found it tricky to count on without having to count all my counters again. I found counting out the counters that I needed easy. I want to work on my addition.

My Welcome Post 2016

Welcome to my Year 4 learning blog. This year I am in Room 13 and my teacher is Miss Kulik. I enjoy writing. This year I am looking forward to youth town. I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
